About the event
Dickens On the Strand is an annual event in Galveston celebrating the festive holiday season with participants dressed in all manner of Victorian period costumes. The Strand in Galveston is the perfect location with many old historic buildings as backgrounds. There are all kinds of street performers, choral groups in costume and people dressed up as historical figures such as Charles Dickens and Queen Victoria. The town crier rings his bell and Father Christmas brings his sack of toys. There are all sorts of craft vendors, great things to shop for as Christmas approaches. There is a parade at 2 pm with everyone in costume on display!
The event opens at 10 in the morning but we will meet at Kingwood First Baptist Church to car pool to Galveston at 9:00 and be there not long after it opens. This provides for better photo opportunities as costumed performers are there…
