An important officer position on our Board of Directors has opened up, that of Treasurer. Our longtime Treasurer, Jim Evrard has decided the time is right for him to step down, we will surely miss him. He has brought a wealth of knowledge on financial matters to the board as well as a witty sense of humor!
Jim would like to carry on until the end of the year and help train the next treasurer as we enter 2026. The position is open to any member in good standing but a basic knowledge of typical finances is helpful. The job is really not even as hard as keeping your own personal checking account in order. We receive funds from membership mostly through PayPal deposits but occasionally a check or cash is tendered and needs to go to the bank for deposit. And we certainly don't write many checks or make many payments. The catered Holiday Dinner and a few website costs are the main expenses, occasionally a reimbursement for a board member's club purchase like office supplies.
We do file a simple tax return with the IRS as a non-profit, Jim will help the next treasurer to complete this form.
Please contact me if you are interested or can suggest a member I should contact. It's members like all of you who keep this club running, whether it's supporting field trips and events or helping in positions like this.
You could be following in the footsteps of our nation's first Treasury Secretary, Alexander Hamilton!
