April Share & Learn is Macro / Closeup

This month we encourage you to take a closer look at what you are photographing by getting in close to the subject!

Macro photography is generally defined as images that capture extremely small objects at 1:1 magnification or "life size" or greater. Anything images of small subjects that is less than 1:1 in magnification would be considered at Closeup.

Macro and close up photography are used to reveal intricate details, textures, and patterns invisible to the naked eye, offering a new, artistic perspective on everyday objects, insects, and nature.

The good news is you don't have to have a true macro lens for these types of images, quite often a telephoto zoom lens that can focus fairly close to the subject will produce images with great magnification.

We encourage you to submit 2-3 images for this theme. Feel free to tell us briefly about anything important in how you got the shots as well as an special things done in post processing. Please remember we try to leave the building by 9pm at the latest, so bear that in mind when explaining your images.

Please remember to upload your images by Monday evening before the meeting. Images uploaded on Tuesday may not make it into our meeting presentation. Please resize and rename images as per our online instructions.
