Enter the untamed world of Texas with Wyman Meinzer, the state’s only official State Photographer, whose arresting images reveal the grandeur of its landscapes, the mystery of its wildlife, and the traditions rooted in its soil.

Raised amid the expansive rolling plains of the 27,000-acre League Ranch near Benjamin, Texas and educated in wildlife management at Texas Tech, Wyman brings an uncommon depth of understanding to his craft. An outdoorsman’s instincts, a naturalist’s patience, and an artist’s eye guide photographs that have appeared on more than 250 magazine covers and in 24 books, forming a rich visual record of the people, places, and stories of the region.

For Wyman, making a photograph means entering the landscape rather than merely observing it. He reads the weather, tracks wildlife, studies behavior, and waits for the fleeting moment when light, subject, and place align. The images that emerge capture both the drama of open country and the quiet details others might miss, reflecting the resilience, independence, and deep sense of place that define Texas.

In this special program, Wyman brings those images to life with firsthand stories of patience, ingenuity, risk, and adventure in the field. Discover how a lifetime outdoors has shaped his vision—and how a single frame can preserve natural history, cultural memory, and a powerful personal connection to the land. More than a presentation, this evening is an invitation to slow down, look closer, and experience Texas through the eyes of a master who has devoted his life to understanding it.
